What to Expect:
Our congregation is fairly casual. People come to church dressed in their Sunday best or in jeans and a t-shirt. During worship we have a mix of traditional hymns and more contemporary music. Each service begins with the ringing of the courtyard bell, then we all join together in a responsive Call to Worship. Next, we sing an opening hymn and greet one another with signs of peace. Throughout worship we sing, pray, read scripture, and hear a sermon. An offering is also taken each week to support the ministry of our church. In addition, we take a loose change offering that goes to benefit a specific organization or ministry. First time visitors are not expected to give, but we hope that you encounter a welcoming place that inspires you to get involved and give with a generous heart. At the close of a service, we receive the blessing before heading out into the world.
Most people hang out after church for a while and enjoy coffee, tea, treats and conversation.
Every first Sunday of the month we celebrate Holy Communion together, and everyone is welcome at the Table. You don’t have to be United Methodist, or even a Christian to participate in this means of grace. All are welcome.
Every second Sunday of the month we do a special offering for Heifer International, an organization that seeks to give farm animals to communities in need. If you are curious about the work of Heifer International click here (https://www.heifer.org/). During this offering we invite people to share a reason why they are giving. It is often in memory of a birthday or anniversary, or sometimes, just because they like cows. It is a fun and joyful time to share something we are thankful for as we help others.
